Who we are
Founded in 1963, the Miami Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL) is now one of the largest and most successful bar associations in Miami-Dade County. Our membership is vast and varied, from distinguished and established practitioners to young attorneys and public defenders at the dawn of their legal careers. Our current and former membership rosters are a who’s-who of South Florida’s criminal defense elite: from attorneys who have argued before the United States Supreme Court, to federal and state judges, to Assistant Public Defenders who fight for defendants’ rights on the front lines, day in day out.
What we do
FACDL offers its 450+ members invaluable services and support throughout the year. From Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs to lunches with judges and mixers with fellow members of the criminal justice community, FACDL provides ample opportunities for education, professional growth, and networking. In addition, we sponsor scholarships to local law schools; co-sponsor events with other bar associations; and provide an exclusive List Serve where members can exchange ideas, ask for and provide support on legal issues, obtain referrals, and receive advice. Members also receive exclusive access to our expert lists and motion bank, not to mention the latest information about courthouse developments.
How you can join us
It’s easy to become a member of our chapter. You must be a member in good standing of the Florida Bar or a Certified Legal Intern (CLI) who practices criminal defense. Simply click on the “Become a Member” link and fill out your information. Then submit payment for your membership dues, and you’ll receive a confirmation and member ID and password that will enable you to log on to the Members Only area of our site.
